Welcome!  This Google site was designed by Christie Brown for the purpose of presenting the workshop History Meets the Future: One School's Approach to Keeping SSR Alive & Relevant at the Spring Conference for the Missouri Association of School Librarians held in St. Louis, MO on April 14, 2014.

The purpose of the workshop and this Google site is to share information about the Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) program at Summit Lakes Middle School (SLMS).  SLMS serves almost 1,000 students in grades 7-8 and is one of three middle schools in Lee's Summit, MO.  Christie Brown is the library media specialist at SLMS.  She is also a co-facilitator of the literacy team as well as coordinator of the SSR program.
