I am currently working as a Machine Learning Engineer at HP inc. Before joing HP, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Inria Sophia-Antipolis Mediterranee, France for a year. I have completed my Ph.D. in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India in 2018. I have also obtained my master's degree (Master of Science - MS) in the same department in 2015 and the B. Tech. degree with a major in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Institute Of Technical Education & Research in 2011.
My PhD thesis is based on facial expression analysis, which is an interdisciplinary research area involving machine learning, computer vision, and psychology. My research was focused on "Development of Algorithms for Analysis of Facial Expressions". Here the fundamental question that we ask is, "can a machine be able to understand human emotions?" The face is one of the fundamental modes of nonverbal communication. By analyzing facial parameters, a system can assess the affective states of a person which has potential applications in human-computer interaction (HCI), surveillance, health-care, driver safety, deceit detection, etc.
My research interests include deep learning, data mining, NLP, time-series analysis, hyperspectral image classification, biomedical signal analysis, and computer vision applications. I have an experience of over 10 years on image understanding and machine learning.
