Training Day 2018
Mock Interviews, Wednesday, Nov 21
· The Interviews take place in the Altbau, 3rd Floor.
· Interviews are scheduled for 25-30 minutes. Interviews simulate the real interview situation, including: introduction and saying good bye.
· Feedback after the interview for about 10-15`` (e.g., candidate leaves, the interviewers discuss briefly the candidates performance, ask her back in and take 5 minutes to give feedback).
· We interview in 3 teams of 3 professors. There will be printouts of the CVs and the first two pages of the jmp available in the offices.
· We will try to have feedback forms that you are encouraged to utilize so students have something to take home.
· Candidates should have tried their “spiel” before with their advisers.
· Anke Becker will join via Skype.

· The presentations take place in the Faculty Lounge.
· Presentation is about 10-15 minutes. The idea is to get feedback on the introduction/motivation

Preparation:
· Make sure to read the job market guide from the aeaweb. It has a whole section on interviews.
· Prepare for the typical questions (What is your agenda for the next years? What would you want to teach/can you teach? Why would you move to us (the US, remote place, big city, asia,…)?).
· Prepare a written version of the spiel and discuss it with your advisers.
The candidates are encouraged to record the mock interviews and their own presentation (including questions).

Prepare Morning (Printouts of schedules and feedback form, clearly sorted printouts of CVs and JMPs)
