All Slabtowners are very familiar with Ace Hardware. Most of us pass by this familiar storefront daily, whether entering or leav-ing this part of town. Founded by John and Bill Maxbauer in 1954, and still a family owned business, this place has saved many a do-it-yourself handyman stymied by a week-end project. You can get anything you need in the way of tools, fasteners, wiring, paint, cleaning supplies, etc.etc.etc. Stop and see for yourself. Open 7 days too.....

A shot of the Community Mural Project on the Front St. wall of Ace Hardware, completed in the fall of 2010. There are 2600 individual tiles that make up the 13' X 50' mosaic-like painting, all hand painted by donors to the project. It was adapted from a painting by Charles Murphy, and was initiated as a fundraiser for the Artcenter Traverse City organization.
