Notice.... Following are dates for the (3) SNA meetings scheduled in 2019: Monday Feb. 4, Monday June 3, and Monday Oct. 7. All SNA meetings are held at Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, 1200 Ramsdell at Bay St. in Traverse City at 7 pm and all resi-dents are invited to attend.  Meeting dates may be changed to accommodate Church needs, and special meetings could be called if deemed necessary.

- Committee reports from the newly created Buildings & Zoning Committee and the newly reformed Streets & Traffic Committee.

Upcoming Events-SNA Beach Party

The date of our annual SNA Beach Party has not been set yet. Hosted by our resident pirates, hot dogs and chips, buried treasures, kid's games and a sand castle contest are in store. This a great family event, and you are guaranteed a great time. Please bring your own beverages. If you are brave you might try taking a dip!
Keep a close eye on your belongings, as you know what "pirates" often do! See you there!

Slabtown Beach cleanup

Check here for information regarding our regular beach clean-up work bees. The first work bee for 2019 has not been scheduled yet. The next one will be called for some time in mid-July, just before the annual SNA Beach Party. The final date will be posted here and on our Facebook page well ahead of the clean-up date.......


A Little History

In the latter half of the 19th century, wood harvested from the region was hauled to saw mills in Traverse City to produce lumber that was shipped to ports around the Great Lakes. As logs were run through the mills, scrap or slab-boards were created and workers used them to construct their homes in the areas south and west of Grand Traverse Bay. Thus Slabtown was created.

From time to time we will feature a cameo look at a Slabtown business, interesting resident(s) and/or historical dwelling. You might find out some interesting facts about places you drive by daily in this part of town. Please take a look.
