Global Cardboard Challenge project for October - The STEAM World Clock Challenge. If anyone is interested in participating, I will set up a wiki page for us all to post projects. I know this is late notice, but my epiphany came early Friday morning and I have been working out the details ever since. Let me know if you're interested! Organizer:  Louise Morgan

Global Collaboration Day
Take 5 -10 photos of your journey to work or school and share them on a collaborative Sway. I really like Sway - it is free but requires you to register and everyone can add their material either as images, a photo stack, a powerpoint presentation embedded or a movie. Here is the link to the sway.
Organized by Anne Mertschin.

Where in the World? While traveling, Michael Soskal made some videos for my students to play a game. Feel free to play with your students as well. In each video I give you 5 clues, and you have to guess the location, animal, etc. I'd love it if your students would make a video and share it back with me to use with my kids as well. I'll be having my students do that during the year.

We Have a Dream
Betsey Beasley's second graders invite HLW-ers to add to their padlet about their dreams in respect for Martin Luther King Jr.

Inspired by Mary Ann Hoberman's book, Lorraine (Boston, USA) and Anne (Australia) started a collaboration.  Lorraine created the padlet for HLW members to share what's outside their windows! There is also a Voice Thread if you like to add in this way.

Holocaust Remembrance
On January 27 each year, the United Nations (UN) remembers the Holocaust that affected many people of Jewish origin during World War II. This day is called the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust. The day also commemorates when the Soviet troops liberated the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland on January 27, 1945. It is hoped that through remembering these events, people will remember the Holocaust and prevent genocide. With this International Day of Remembrance, we begin our annual remembrance project.

Mystery Reader - a logical set from Mystery Location.  All kids LOVE to have stories read to them, and to have a story read to them from somewhere outside their school adds to it.  They can also 'guess' the location of the person.
