Adapted from the Deen Brothers
2 3/4 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 pint (2 cups) heavy cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
2-4 tablespoons miniature chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease two 9-inch pie plates. Set aside.
Cream butter and sugars (may use mixer if desired). Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well till each is incorporated. Mix in vanilla. Add flour, salt and baking soda and mix well using mixer on low or wooden spoon. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Divide dough between pie plates. Smooth top with knife or offset spatula.
Bake for 30 minutes or till golden and slightly firm to the touch. Cool on rack.
Whip cream and powdered sugar till soft peaks form. Fold in mini chocolate chips. Refrigerate till ready to serve. Top wedges with a dollop of whipped cream to serve.
