Ms. Lohman's Home Page

WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!

I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year. I would like to take a few moments to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Lohman and I will be your child's teacher this school year. I have a wide range of teaching experience and training. I have worked in the Chicago Public Schools system for nine years. Eight of those years have been in the first grade. In addition, I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Early Childhood. I recently completed my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an English Second Language focus. As an educator, I value the opportunity to teach your child the requirements he/she will need by the end of this school year to be successful. By us working together, your child will succeed!

BEHAVIOR CHARTS
For behavior, please check your child’s "Daily Folder" each night to see what “color” your child was on during the day. The colors are as follows: Green=good, yellow=warning, blue=note/call home, red=reflection and/or principal’s office. Your child will get one stamp per night that coincides with the “color” they were on for the day. Once they fill up their grids with green stamps, they can turn it in for a treasure coupon! If your child is on blue or red for the day, I will be sure to contact you with furhter details on how we can rectify.

SCHOOL PROCEDURES
Your child must wear navy blue shorts and a white t-shirt under their clothes on gym days. Gym is every Monday. Having the gym uniform under their clothing saves us time for learning. Thank you.

SCHOOL FEES
School fees are $71.00 per student. These fees are necessary for the consumable books your children use, art activities, thematic units, and other projects. This 2012-2013 school year, Language Stars will be sponsored by LSC at no fee to the parents! Please send in your child's $71.00 fee no later than NOVEMBER 1, 2012. Thank you!

SPECIAL OCCASIONS
If you send a treat with your child on his/her birthday or any other time during the school year, please purchase it from the grocery store. Unfortunately, we can’t consume baked goods. All treats must be store bought. Please let me know in advance if you plan to bring a treat on your child’s special day.

VOLUNTEERING
Volunteers are welcomed! This year I am in need of parents for lunch duty (10:45a-11:45a daily), computer class on Tuesdays 12:30-1:15, for homework help, field trips, etc. Please email me at tchr212@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering. Thank you!
