“Registration: Getting the most out of digital organs.” – Realizing that a large number of our chapter members play digital organs, it's time to offer programs that cater to their needs. With that in mind, we are meeting at the Evangelical Covenant Church (where member Sharon Carlson is organist), at 3025 Edison Rd, South Bend. The organ is an Allen digital computer organ, of the type with the punch cards for “alterable voice.” John Gouwens will be the presenter and will show a number of ways to use that type of organ for repertoire.
This is also a potluck dinner, so please bring a dish to share!
The chapter website is being updated! Visit again soon for information on the upcoming program year and musical events in our area.
The Chapter year begins with dinner and Vespers at St Peter Lutheran Church (MS) in Mishawaka on THIS SUNDAY, 15 September. See the September Newsletter for detailed information.
Join guest organist Jonathan Oblander for a masterclass on hymn and service playing this Saturday, April 27, at 10:00am at Grace UMC, South Twyckenham Dr, South Bend (host Jane Flora). The bench will be open for anyone who wants to play a hymn for Jonathan, followed by his own presentation and ideas on hymn playing. See you there!
View pictures of the Troyers' house organ (1950 Fuhrer) here. We had a lovely evening of music including pieces played by local organ students and a wonderful improvisation on St. Theodulph by past-dean John Gouwens.
