The Houston International Quilt Festival is an annual event. The 2011 Festival is November 3rd-6th at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Activities Associated with the Festival
- The Patchwork Promise Booth - Quilts, Inc. graciously offers the Council a wonderful opportunity to host a booth at one of the LARGEST conventions in the southwest! Booth hostesses interact with the visitors from around the world. Volunteers are needed to man the booth in shifts throughout the Festival. Two girls and one adult are needed for each shift. Girl Scouts of all ages can participate. Girls can invite a Grandparent to be the adult.
When: November 3 – 6; Two hour shifts: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., and two hour increments thereafter until the final shift @ 5:30 p.m.; Sunday shifts begin on the hour from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m., 12-2, 2-4 p.m..

2011 International Quilt Festival Tours - Girl Scouts are invited to visit the Festival FREE. Vicki Mangum, Girl Scout volunteer and professional with Quilts, Inc., wrote use: "Would you please let the troop leaders know they can arrange for their girls to attend the International Quilt Show free of charge by contacting me? The troop needs to attend as a group, in uniform, and they must arrange in advance with me. "

- Holding For Houston - The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. Our goal is to take 1,500 to Houston's International Quilt Festival. These quilts are not for sale now, but they will be for sale in Houston from November 2-6, 2011. Please look for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative booth in the exhibitor area of Festival. http://www.alzquilts.org/houston.html Any quilt measuring 9" x 12" or less is welcome. Quilts need not be about Alzheimer's, but they may be. Any technique, any theme, any colors, any skill level are welcome.
