Spreading of Buddhim

    Buddhism began in northern India. It then spread south to Burma, Sri Lanka,  Indo-China, Thailand,and other South East Asian countries. As well, it also moved north to the Himalayan kingdoms (Bhutan,Sikkim, Nepal), Mongolia, Tibet, and other parts of Central Asia. Buddhism also spread into China, Korea and Japan. The Indian emperor, Ashoka, had a huge impact on the spread of Buddhism. In the 3rd century B.C., he sent missionaries as far as Syria, spreading the religion.
