September meeting - CHANGES TO THE LAWS OF THE GAME

Post date: Aug 31, 2016 12:47:29 PM

1. There are many new changes to LOTG, which are attached. The September 13 clinic and meeting (7:30 pm. at Great Kills Moravian Church) will review these changes. You are expected to print, read, and bring a copy of the attached memo to the meeting. You should also bring pen and paper.

2. ENY requires all referees 18 and over to complete Risk Management. Note that this is free for referees. Note that, even if you have already completed RM for coaching, you still need to do it for refereeing. All RM for 2016 expires on 8/31/16 - that means if you want to referee after 8/31/16, you need to have updated RM. Note that the site is currently down and ENY is working on fixing it - http://enysaref.siplay.com/site/

3. The 2017 re certification sponsored by SISRA will be held at our monthly meeting on October 11 at 7:30 pm. As of yet, ENY has not released a recert. test, fees, etc. Accordingly, more information to follow, including the policy on members away for college. Note that you will need proof of up to date RM for those 18 years or older at the time of registration.

4. Use of the No Show form on our new website, www.sisraonline.org, has worked well and we have received the Spring 2016 SISL no show fees. Checks will be cut and made available at the September meeting.

5. This past summer there has been plenty of good news to share about SISRA referees:

Erik Knoop earned his Grade 6 upgrade. Welcome to returning SISRA member, Grade 6 Referee Stan Mitev.

Returning SISRA member (and Grade 6 Referee) Victoria Catanzaro and Erik Knoop are part of the new ENY Elite Referee Program.

In addition, Erik successfully officiated at the USASA Soccer Fest (Denver) and Region 1 Premier League Finals, while Victoria officiated the USYS National Championships along with SI's own Brian DiPaolo (his second such honor). Victoria becomes the 4th SISRA referee to officiate the USYS National Championships, which is an important pathway to working at the highest levels. Which SISRA member will be next?

Several of our referees successfully performed at the Region 1 ODP Tournament as they continue their referee development.

See you all on September 13th!
