The Bayesian Section of the Italian Society of Statistics has been established in 2013.

The group aims to provide a permanent forum for statisticians and other people who have scientific, cultural or historical interest in the Bayesian paradigm.

The broad objectives of the Section are:

  • To create, within SIS, a reference group of researchers ready to debate scientific issues related to the Bayesian approach to statistics, and to promote participation of its members to international research projects.

  • To promote and coordinate applied and theoretical research in the field

  • To encourage and organize specialized sessions and ad hoc tutorials at national and international statistical meetings

  • To disseminate Bayesian ideas and methods among young students and scholars in both Statistics and other fields.

  • To foster the application of the Bayesian paradigm in science, industry, business, finance, and official statistics.
