Singleton Pipes and Drums

Singleton is situated on the banks of the Hunter River approximately 210 kM north west of Sydney. Singleton is the centre of coal mining, power generation, farming, agriculture and a thriving wine industry.

The Band is a fairly new addition to the pipe band world and began after a meeting of the two  Dougs' (O'Neill and Gould) in a local hotel (the Central) in 1994, sounds familar? With help from Macquarie Generation, United Mine Workers and the local community the band first performed in its own right in 1999. The band is active at civic, patriotic and charitable events in Singleton and surrounding areas. This year the band will be at "Bundanoon is Brigadoon", Aberdeen Highland Gathering.

A highlight of the bands brief history was travelling to Scotland to participate in Pipefest  Edinburgh in 2005. We are now planning another trip to Scotland in 2008 with our friends from Hornsby RSL Pipe Band as well as some participants from Wingham Services Club Pipes and Drums and Canobolas Highland Pipe Band.
