Welcome to the Canberra Singapore Club

The Canberra Singapore Club (CSC) as incorporated in 1989 and is based in Canberra, Australia. It is a social club for Singaporeans and friends of Singapore. Our club members include Singaporeans and ex-Singaporeans who live, study and work in Canberra as well as our Australian and Malaysian friends who have an interest in Singapore culture and community.

The aim of the club is to provide and enhance community spirit among our members and friends by providing a forum for networking and socialising. Through our regular functions and activities, members meet to cultivate new friendship, network, exchange ideas, moan about the cold winter weather as well as the summer heatwave, have fun and enjoy what Singaporeans love most – makan (food).

We welcome Singaporean students who are studying in Canberra to join the Club.  If you are currently studying here and would like an opportunity to meet up and socialise with other Singaporeans over a meal, we will be happy to hear from you.  We may even be able to help you with tips on how to survive and enjoy your overseas experience.

The club maintains contact with the Singapore High Commission, Singapore International Foundation and Overseas Singapore Unit.  We thank the Singapore International Foundation for their financial support and the Singapore High Commission for allowing us to use the premises for some selected functions. Through the Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU) we hope to stay in touch with students who are studying in Canberra.  With their new role as the primary contact for all Overseas Singaporeans, the club will be working closely with OSU in the new year.

We organise social functions around Singaporen festivals including Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Singapore National Day, Christmas, moon cake and dumpling festival.   The club also organises sporting activities including badminton and bushwalking. The CSC is on the lookout for new activities for its members and any suggestions from the members are appreciated.

The club committee meets at least once a month to plan these activities and members are kept updated through our newsletters.  On this website, we welcome contributions and feedbacks from our members. If you have any new ideas, interesting news, good recipes to share, we will be happy to hear from you.
