Completed Woodworking Projects

Bronwen Box
Details: This sgian dubh presentation box was made out of reclaimed white oak with a bog oak lid inlay and keyed miters.  The red jasper cabochon inlaid into the lid was added to compliment the red jasper stone set into the pommel of the sgian dubh.

Anglin Box
Details: This sgian dubh presentation box was made out of reclaimed white oak with a bog oak accent in the edge of the lid. I originally intended on inlaying something into the lid, but felt the knot carried enough interest in itself and so I left it alone. This was the first sgian dubh box I ever made and it was the Best Man present I gave my best man in my wedding (along with the Rab Gordon sgian dubh inside).

Rusling Box

Details: Designed to hold a dirk and a sgian dubh with space left over for cuff links and kilt pins, this box was a custom order for a May 2nd wedding (which also happens to be my birthday). It is made out of reclaimed white oak with an inlay in the lid, escutcheon in the front, and miter keys on the corners all made from bog oak. The lining is green suede cloth and the solid brass medallion in the lid matches a medallion set in the pommel of the dirk.

Ross Box
Details: This sgian dubh presentation box was made out of of reclaimed white oak with a bog oak lid lift and keyed miters.  The inside of the box was lined with Ross Tartan.  It was the first time I tried that technique and I was really pleased with the end result.

Campbell Box
Details: This men's valet was made out of soft maple with a curly mahogany lid panel, lid lift, and mitered keys. It was a Christmas gift for my wife's uncle, Kevin. The inside was lined with the Campbell tartan and the divider was made out of curly mahogany, as well.

It's About Time
Details: An Honorable Mention entry in Woodcraft Magazine's 2006 "Think Small, Win Big" clock contest, this is also the box I used when proposing to my wife. The name of the box is appropriately titled, "It's About Time," an obvious reference to the clock feature and a not-so-obvious reference to the fact that it took me so long to propose. The box is made out of Honduran Mahogany.
