No strategic or tactical plan existed for the information management / information technology.

The Challenge

Establish short term tactical and long term strategic goals for the information management and technology department.  Budget was decentralized where all departments purchased their own information assets.  Lack of standardization existing causing inefficiencies and no clear direction re: life cycle management.  Policies, standards, procedures and guidelines did not cover the range of management required of a modern IT department.

The Solution

Initiated plan to assess the company’s IT assets and staff computer skills. After interviews and analysis, identified needed improvements in various areas of management and systems control.  Restructured the department, which included delegating responsibilities and assignments.

The Result

This change initiative improved operations and increased efficiency for the entire company. The MIS Department measured a 23% increase in use of facility space, a 38% increase in employee communications and an 80% increase for system security.
