2013 SOD Kids Practice

Kid's practice at the central SKA dojo in Santa Barbara takes place annually. Here participants practice with the head of the SKA organization, Shihan Ohshima Sensei, as well as other Godan black belts. Ohshima Sensei always makes time to sign the kids' belts with their name written in Japanese.

"The ultimate aim of the art of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the characters of its participants." - Gichin Funakoshi

Simi Shotokan's Annual International Dinner was held on March 27th, 2013. Members brought a dish representing their ethnic origins to share with their karate family. Simi Valley is a culturally diverse community and resulted in a delicious smorgasborg of home cooking from Chilaquiles to Teriyaki chicken and Cedar plank salmon! Yummers.
