U9/10 JAMBOREE SUCCESS...

posted Jun 25, 2013, 10:47 AM by WORKWIZER   [ updated Jun 25, 2013, 10:49 AM ]

Recently, our U9/10 Boys and Girls played in Jamborees (mini soccer tournaments) in Oliver and here in Keremeos, where they played against teams from Oliver and Osoyoos. Playing teams from out of town is new to our mini program, and it was met with enthusiastic players and coaches. These jamborees provided up to six additional games of exciting competition for our players, resulting in more playing experience, which in turn results in more skill development, which results in more long term success for our kids... :)

A big THANK YOU goes out to our coaches for putting in the extra time to make this happen.

A BRIGHT FUTURE WITH COACHING DEVELOPMENT

posted Mar 24, 2013, 11:03 AM by WORKWIZER   [ updated Mar 24, 2013, 11:46 AM ]

BC SoccerWELLNESS TO WORLD CUPCanada Soccer

The SMSA and it's members will enjoy a bright future with a recent boost in coaching development. Over the past two months, 23 coaches have been trained  and certified with Canada Soccer Association Coaching certificates;  7 coaches in 'Soccer For Life'  for ages 13 and up, and 16 coaches in 'Active Start' for ages 5-7. And we should have around 5 more in 'Fundamentals' for ages 8-11. These are among the first certifications in the SMSA's soccer program, and we wish to continue this trend.

With more coaches trained, the players will benefit greatly, but so does the community. Coaching can be difficult, but with good training it can become the cornerstone to personal growth, which the community will eventually benefit from.

For more information on coaching, see the Coaching link under the SOCCER tab.

REGISTRATION OPENS WITH LOWER FEES & EXTRA DAYS

posted Feb 19, 2013, 11:53 AM by WORKWIZER

Registration for children born 2003-2008 in soccer and baseball programs at the SMSA has begun. The Board of Directors has managed to reduce cost for the programs by a significant amount, resulting in fees 25$ lower than previous years.
In addition to the welcome news of a more affordable price, the soccer program Directors have added an optional day for those that want more time. This additional day is 40$ more, and will further advance the physical literacy of the young participants.
If you haven't already registered your child, please do so as soon as possible so that we can have everything organized well in advance of the season opening on April 2.

Coaching Clinic Here In Keremeos?

posted Feb 13, 2013, 5:26 PM by WORKWIZER

The Similkameen Minor Sports Association, in cooperation with BC Soccer, wants to host the Active Start (4 hours & FREE of charge) Coaching Certificate Course. This is the most basic of 4 soccer coaching modules in the Community Sport Stream sanctioned by Canada Soccer.

WE NEED A MINIMUM OF 15 PARTICIPANTS TO HOST THIS CLINIC HERE IN KEREMEOS - YOUR ATTENDANCE WILL HELP OTHERS GET THE TRAINING THEY NEED.

If you have been involved with the SMSA as a coach, assistant, or even field setup, please consider this clinic.

We will also be facilitating (paid for by the SMSA) additional certificates through Kelowna United for those that want to add additional certificate modules in specific age groups. Indicate your interest with this form.

This was not easy to arrange as the SMSA is actually too small to qualify for this service from BC Soccer. Don't miss this opportunity.
