Event - Wild Utah: America's Redrock Wilderness

Monthly Meeting of the Sierra Club Greater Hartford Group
Westmoor Park, Flagg Rd., West Hartford
Thursday May 9th at 7:30 pm

Jackie Feinberg, National Grassroots Organizer, Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) (http://www.suwa.org/is making a stop in CT with the presentation "Wild Utah: America's Redrock Wilderness."

This multi-media slideshow documents citizen efforts to designate public lands in southern Utah's spectacular canyon country as part of the National Wilderness Preservation System.

The presentation will also update us on the current status of the Utah wilderness movement including the campaign by SUWA and the Sierra Club for a new national monument surrounding Canyonlands National Park.

This program will entertain, educate, inspire and motivate people to take personal action in this tremendous public lands conservation effort.

Since 1983, SUWA (http://www.suwa.org/) has been the only independent organization working full-time to defend America’s redrock wilderness from oil and gas development, unnecessary road construction, rampant off-road vehicle use and other threats to Utah’s wilderness-quality lands.

Refreshments and letter signing starting at 7:00 p.m. A small donation is requested.
