I was born in the town of Gumbinnen in East Prussia, which at that time was part of Germany and is now called Gusev and belongs to Russia. Most of my childhood and my early adult years I lived in Frankfurt am Main in Germany, where I was trained as a graphic designer. I lived and worked in Norway, Indonesia and Iran before settling in Australia in 1978.
I hold a Diploma in Fine Arts from the West Australian School of Art and Design and a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) from Curtin University (WA). Since 1982 I have held over 20 solo exhibitions of paintings, drawings and original prints in Germany (Cologne, Frankfurt, Duesseldorf and Seligenstadt) and in Australia (Greenhill Galleries in Perth and Adelaide; Editions Southbank Gallery, Melbourne; Stafford Studios in Perth; Damien Minton Gallery in Newcastle; Olsen - Carr Art Dealers and Rushcutters Bay Gallery in Sydney.
In 1986 I was honoured with a Fellowship from the Creative Development Fund of the WA Arts Council. My work has since been recognized with a number of awards and prizes and has been acquired for many public, corporate and private collections.
Amongst the former are: the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the WA Department for the Arts, the Commonwealth Law Courts, Curtin University, Edith Cowan University and the University of Western Australia and Robert Holmes a Courtand and the Commonwealth Department of Finance (Canberra).
Corporate collectors include: Dresdner Bank (Sydney) , Hawaiian Investments (London House, Perth), State Goverment Insurance Office (Perth and Sydney), Western Union (Sydney), Sons of Gwalia (Perth), Parmelia Hilton and Burswood International Resort (Perth).
In 2005 The Sydney Morning Herald selected one of my paintings for the cover of their special Australia Day edition and a limited edition of prints.
I now live on the mid -north coast of NSW in a rainforest pocket on the edge of a lake and minutes from the most beautiful beaches.
