**The SICSA PhD Conference 2014 will take place on 9th and 10th June 2014 at the University of St Andrews. Please check back shortly for full details** Welcome to the website for the 2013 SICSA PhD Conference, which was held on the 12th and 13th of June 2013. For the first time, this year's conference was held at the University of Stirling, picturesquely situated at the foot of the Ochil Hills and surrounding the Airthrey Loch. The SICSA PhD Conference is an annual event, open to all PhD students in computer science and informatics in Scotland, not just those students funded by SICSA. The conference is a forum for PhD students to join the SICSA research community. This year, the theme of the conference was "Communication and Working Together", and the conference consisted of a number of activities related to this theme, including:
There were also keynotes from distinguished speakers and a number of social events. The Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance (SICSA) is a collaboration of Scottish universities whose
goal is to develop and extend Scotland's position as a world leader in
Informatics and Computer Science research and education. We
achieve this by working cooperatively rather than competitively, by
providing mutual support and sharing facilities, by working closely with
industry and government and by appointing and retaining world-class
staff and research students in Scottish universities.
We are now in the early planning stages for the SICSA PhD Conference 2014 - announcements will be made in due course.
