Obituary: Dorothy Swerdlove

Dear friends and colleagues,
We learned last week with sadness that the New York Public Library Theatre Division's former Curator, Dorothy Swerdlove, passed away on December 30th at her home in Tucson.  Dorothy retired from the Library in 1990 after 29 years in the Theatre Division and was highly respected and much loved by the staff here.  Several of us received Christmas cards from Dorothy indicating that she was well and active until a sudden illness afflicted her. L’Amante anglaise By Marguerite Duras

The audio tape of two performances of L’Amante Anglaise by Marguerite Duras recorded during the creation of the play by Claude Regy in 1969 at the Théâtre National Populaire (TNP) was long forgotten… it was only in 2012 that this valuable historical document emerged from the fund of the Théâtre National de Chaillot.
