Series of Meetings on Theatre Staging at the BnF

In March and April 2012 le Théâtre Ouvert associated with the Performing Arts Department of the BnF will host a series of meetings on Theatre Staging called "Traits d'union" (Hyphen)... To mark the occasion four Theatre Directors will be invited:

Akademie der Künste: Upcoming Exhibition and New Collections

An exhibition dedicated to Gerhard Bohner, one of the founders of the highly observed international German Dance Theatre (German Tanztheater) in the 1970’s and 1980's, will soon be presented at the Archive. Gerhard Bohner was dancer and choreographer and produced several pieces at the Academy of Arts at the Hanseatenweg.

Contredanse : Steve Paxton in Hasselt


Steve Paxton (experimental dancer and choreographer) was in Hasselt on 4th February 2012 to inaugure "Phantom exhibition". This video installation -conceived by Steve Paxton in collaboration with Florence Corin and Baptiste Andrien (for Contredanse)- proposes an immersion into the Steve Paxton's work on the spine, in line with the dvd-rom "Material for the spine", published in 2008 by Contredanse. The exhibition takes place from 4th February to 27 May 2012 in the Cultural Center of Hasselt, as part of the Triennal Superbodies. READ ON

Exhibition on Le Théâtre de la Huchette at the BnF

The world-renowned Théâtre de la Huchette located in Paris' Left Bank has donated to the BnF much of its archives from 1965 to 2001. Almost forty years of posters, programs, photographs, costumes, elements of theatrical scenery have enriched the collections of the Performing Arts Department and will soon be exhibited READ ON

The scope of this collection includes more than 10.000 books, including 915 theatre brochures from the XVII and XVIII century, reference books about theatre and the performing arts, stage designs, printed and hand written scores, programs and posters, graphic and iconographic material (posters caricatures, drawings, costume designs) and specialized periodicals. The collection also includes a large number of records concerning the life of the TNDMII (Lisbon, Portugal), such as theatre reviews (press clipping), biographical records of actors, play writers, stage designers and others, (from the XIX century to this day) video records for all the activities held at the TNDMII and other theatres repertoire. Moving of the Theater Instituut Nederland to the Stopera


The Theater Instituut Nederland (TIN) will open its doors in 2013 in the cultural and civil heart of Amsterdam: the Stopera (Municipal Centre and Music Theater). The Theater Museum which is threatened with closure is developing its plans further with the director of the Stopera.
