Overview

The second annual NSF Software Infrastructure for Sustained Innovation (SI2) PI meeting will take place in Arlington, VA February 24-25, 2014.  It is hosted by Prof. Beth Plale, Indiana University Pervasive Technology Institute (PTI), Douglas Thain, University of Notre Dame, and Matt Jones, University of California Santa Barbara with additional organization provided by Robert Ping, Indiana University PTI.

Due to space limitations we will only accept 85 participants - we hope at least 1 person from each project will be able to attend.  Invited projects are listed here.

Participants are expected to bring a poster to share during the opening reception and will be asked to contribute to discussion, panels, and to help choose topics for discussion which are relevant to the attendees and advancing software sustainability.

LOCATION
The meeting, poster session/reception, and meals will take place at The Westin Arlington Gateway, 801 North Glebe Road, Arlington, VA, 22203.
Meetings will take place in F. Scott Fitzgerald A-B meeting room - 2nd Floor.
Meals and refreshments will be available outside F. Scott Fitzgerald A-B.
Poster/Reception will take place in Ernest Hemingway Salon - 2nd Floor.

INTERNET
Code for meeting room internet use = westin14
Hotel internet is included in the price of your hotel room and uses a different login.

TIME / AGENDA
The meeting/breakfast will start at 8:00 am EST on February 24th and end at Noon EST on February 25th.  The agenda is available in the sidebar on the left.

POSTER SESSION / RECEPTION
An evening poster session will take place on February 24th.  Each SI2 project is expected to have a poster at the session.  Posters should be no larger than 4' x 4' and explain your involvement and contributions to SI2.  For new projects the poster would  include plans, for projects already in progress the poster would be oriented towards accomplishments.  In the sidebar on the left, there is a page with digital copies of the posters.  They are also available by clicking on Invitees / Attendees and then the poster number.

The poster session is planned in 2 blocks where a person tends a poster in one block and views posters in another.  In this way all attendees have the opportunity to review all the posters.  The poster session is in The Westin Arlington Gateway.

Please plan to turn over your poster to Robert Ping at the registration desk when you arrive for the meeting.  They will be hung for the poster session and you are welcome to take them down and take them with you after the poster session has ended.

For those of you wanting to print your posters upon arrival, there are 5 printing/copy shops located within walking/taxi distance of the Westin.  None of them are open 24 hours.  See map attached.



LODGING/ACCOMMODATIONS
Reservations are the responsibility of each attendee of the meeting.

The Westin is continuing to honor the $184 rate (including internet) no matter when you book your room.  Just book your room and let Robert know so he can manually have you added to room block and have the rate adjusted and free internet added to you room.

TRAVEL COSTS

Each participant is expected to cover their own travel costs from the SI2 award:  "All awardees are expected to participate in an annual SI2 PI meeting with travel costs supported by the award. These travel costs should be included in the FastLane budget."-- according to NSF/ACI.
