This con is going to be a Fiasco - on Fiasco Friday!
Post date: Feb 10, 2016 5:45:54 PM
Friday, March 11th, there are two sessions of Fiasco planned: one at 1pm and another at 6pm.If you've never played Fiasco, it's a GMless RPG that emulates movies like those of the Coen brothers. Here is the blurb from the game:"Fiasco is inspired by cinematic tales of small-time capers gone disastrously wrong particularly films like Blood Simple, Fargo, The Way of the Gun, Burn After Reading, and A Simple Plan. You’ll play ordinary people with powerful ambition and poor impulse control. There will be big dreams and flawed execution. It won’t go well for them, to put it mildly, and in the end it will probably collapse into a glorious heap of jealousy, murder, and recrimination. Lives and reputations will be lost, painful wisdom will be gained, and if you are really lucky, your character just might end up back where he started."
Fiasco: Player's Choice
Friday, Mar 11, 1-5pm
GM Darren Miller will present multiple Fiasco playsets for players to choose from.
Fiasco: Dewey Decimation
Friday, Mar 11, 6-10pm
Libraries are weird, and this one is no exception. The staff is quirky, the books are many, and something is always just the slightest bit off. The staff manages to keep the place afloat, but with a ghost roaming the stacks, aliens abducting patrons, and the local PTA’s monthly meetings always going awry things can get... messy. But the books are free, right?
Fiasco is a game about messy situations and bad decisions. It’s like playing through a movie while writing it. You set scenes and play through characters in a story crafted by the players. Success and failure will be determined by the people around you. Set up is half the fun, the other half is playing through the train-wreck with the characters you’ve just created as they lie, cheat, and do whatever it takes to get what they want.
ShushCon is a games and geekery convention March 11th, 12th, & 13th, 2016 at the Waccamaw Neck Branch Library in Pawleys Island, SC.
