The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city. This organization was founded with the noble aspiration of gathering professional engineers to serve as role models for the Hispanic community.
Today SHPE has grown to encompass countless Universities and Colleges nationwide. East Los Angeles Community College being one of them.
SHPE Changes lives by empowering the hispanic community to realize their fullest potential and impacts the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.
SHPE's vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.

Event: Noche de Ciencias
Details: The Engineering Club of East Los Angeles College is hosting the Noche de Ciencias event with the purpose of motivating K-12 students to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We will have a hands on design project were the students will create the rules and build a game box. In addition, we will provide parents with free college awareness workshops regarding attending college, STEM disciplines, financial aid, and more. The club's goal is to host 150 students plus their parents/guardians.
