NEW PLAYGROUND COMING SOON!
Make a donation today!
The Parent Teacher Organization has been hard at work this year fundraising and planning a new playground for the school.

We are thrilled to announce that we recently received significant gifts to our playground fund that might allow us to move forward with construction this summer, pending Board of Education approval.

Initially, we envisioned a much longer time frame for a new structure, but we have had several community partners step up with outstanding contributions. These include:

● The BerbeeWalsh Foundation ($85,000)
● Ideal Builders (donating all site prep for the site for free)
● The Shorewood Hills Foundation ($15,000) and
● The Village of Shorewood Hills Community League ($10,000).

This fall, Shorewood Hills Elementary families donated $5,000 for school grounds improvements. With the new time frame, we have instead put that money towards the new structure. But we are still $5,500 short of what we need to make all the elements of a new playground possible.

Typically, the PTO only asks for donations once a year, in September. The money you donate in September provides funding throughout the year for school enrichment programs (e.g. Opera for the Young) and PTO-sponsored events (e.g. International Week), as well as supplementary funding for classrooms.

However, a new playground is an extraordinary expense and an unusual project, so we are asking you to donate again. Please consider making a donation to help us reach our goal of $5,500 by May 31st. The new structure, swings, and musical area will replace the aging 2/3 playground structure and swings visible from the school’s library.

Any amount is appreciated and tax-deductible. Donations can be made via PayPal by clicking the "donate" button at the top of this page, or you can send a check made out to SHES PTO with “playground” written in the memo line to the school office by May 31st.

We are excited to replace our aging play structure with a safer, more inclusive and accessible play area this year! Thank you for your continued support of the PTO and your donation for a new playground!
