SVCA Preseason Players to Watch
A-Central
Nik Ferraro, Sr., OPP, Donovan Catholic
A Second Team All-Shore selection by the SVCA during his junior season, Ferraro will be a force to be reckoned up front for the Griffins. Ferraro, who will be continuing his volleyball career at PSU-Altoona next year, will be a key weapon in Donovan’s dynamic offense.
Kieran Ryan, Sr., S, Donovan Catholic
Ryan amassed 461 assists and 54 aces as he lead his team to the A-Central division title in 2017, and he will set the tempo of the Griffin’s offense once again this season. A Third Team All-Shore selection last year, Ryan will continue to show why he is one of the premier setters in the conference.
Dylan Wintrode, Sr., OH, Donovan Catholic
The Griffins will look to senior outside hitter Dylan Wintrode to replicate the success he had last spring. Wintrode should be among the team’s leaders in both kills and blocks this year.
Jacob Attia, Sr., MB, Keyport
Keyport will rely on Attia to pace the Raider offense once again this season. Already the school’s career leader in kills, Attia is on track to set the school record for digs, blocks, service points, and aces this season.
Adrian Perez, Sr., S, Keyport
An extremely hardworking player who is unfortunately coming off a preseason injury, Perez should work his back onto the court and have a chance to set the school record for assists during his senior season.
Luke Brown, So., OH, Jackson Liberty
Coming off a solid freshman season that saw him hammer home 44 kills, Brown will look to build off that success during his sophomore campaign for the Lions.
Riley Fanholz, Jr., MB, Jackson Liberty
Jackson Liberty will count on the size and athleticism of Fanholz to help the Lions control play through the middle of the court. Fanholz will play a critical role in Jackson’s efforts to qualify for both the Score Conference and state tournaments.
Jack Lilienkamp, Sr., OH, Jackson Liberty
Jackson Liberty will count on large contributions from senior, Jack Lilienkamp, on both the offense and defensive sides of the ball. A dynamic player with a well-rounded skill set, Lilienkamp will be a difference maker for the Lions this year.
Christian Saliski, Sr., S, Manchester
After eclipsing the 500 assist mark for his career during his junior campaign, Saliski will continue to establish himself as one of the division’s premier setters. With talented players all around him, Saliski will have the opportunity to become the all time assists leader for the Hawks this spring.
Dominik Tracz, So., MB/OH, Manchester
Manchester will turn to sophomore middle blocker Dominik Tracz to help the Hawks up front as they use his size and speed to help slow down opposing offenses.
Devin Zamot, So., OH, Manchester
A young and talented outside hitter, Zamot should be one of the top producers for a solid Manchester offense this season.
Andrew Colannino, Jr., OPP, Red Bank Catholic
Andrew Colannino’s versatility contributed to the Casey’s success last spring. A season ago, he finished third on the team in kills, second in blocks, and led the team in aces. His passing in serve receive will help the Caseys run a balanced offense.
Timothy Saleh, Sr., S, Red Bank Catholic
In his first season at the helm of the Casey offense, Saleh tallied 322 assists. His ability to run a diversified scheme and keep all of his hitters involved will play a major role in the Caseys success this year.
Tim Yachnik, Sr., OH, Red Bank Catholic
As the most experienced player on the Casey’s squad, Yachnik’s presence will be felt in every aspect of the game. A four-year varsity starter, Yachnik led the squad in kills, digs, and hitting percentage last season.
Colin Diamond, Jr., MH, Saint John Vianney
This dynamic athlete is poised for a breakout season after moving to the middle following his sophomore campaign. An adept blocker, Diamond will provide the first line of defense for the Lancers.
Nick Diaz, Jr., OH, Saint John Vianney
Junior captain Nick Diaz should have an immediate impact on the Lancer offense from the pins. He brings size and speed to a rebuilt offense and has the ability to attack from anywhere on the court.
Alexander Rufo, Sr., S, Saint John Vianney
A versatile multi-sport athlete, captain Alex Rufo has done a little bit of everything for the Lancers over the course of his four year varsity career. He has starred as a libero and outside hitter during previous seasons, but this year he will anchor the team from the setter position, and he hopes to put the Lancers back into the mix for a Shore Conference tournament run.
Shaun Ahern, Sr., MB, Wall
Entering his senior season, Ahern’s experience and leadership will be a vital component to Wall’s success this spring. An experienced presence at the net, Ahern will look to put the Crimson Knights in position for an A-Central title and a Shore Conference tournament run.
Dominic Saenz, Jr., S, Wall
Coming off a sophomore season in which he eclipsed the 500 assist mark, Saenz will distribute for the Wall offense once again this year. His ability to spread the ball around, and his creativity in running the offense will help the team’s production this season.
Justin Zucker, Sr., L, Wall
Justin has the ability and drive to make great defensive plays for the Crimson Knights this season. He is within reach of setting the school’s career mark for digs with a strong showing this season.
