Space Shuttle Endeavor - Right Back Side
On the weekend of October 12th Space Shuttle Endeavour was transported through city streets from a hanger at LAX to the California Science Center near the LA Coliseum. Late on Saturday evening, the shuttle reached the intersection of Crenshaw and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, where it sat for an extended period of time for a "pit stop" as the machine that carried the shuttle had to be reconfigured to make it down the relatively narrow stretch of MLK. The scale of the machine is a little more evident here. Other than navigating down streets never designed to let a machine of its width pass, the tail forced crews to have to remove stop lights and raise power lines along the route. It was nearly midnight at this point, but there were still many kids in the crowd with their parents to see the Shuttle.
