- Synthesis of 1-D and 2-D nanostructures by CVD

I have experienced the synthesis of various 1-D and 2-D single crystalline nanostructures by CVD during my MS and Ph.D. course. I have trained analysis instruments such as SEM, AFM, XRD and TEM for characteristics of as-grown nanostructures. The material groups that I involved are followed as below;

Metal-silicide/germanide nanowires (ConSi, Fe1-xCoxSi, NixSiy, MnSi, CoGe, FeSi, V5Si3, (Nb0.94V0.06)10(SixGe1-x)7), Semiconductor nanowires (InN, NbO2, ZnO), Topological insulator nanowires/nanoribbons (Ag2Te, Ag2Se, Bi2Te3)

- Large scaled epitaxial layer growth of III-V group materials on Si wafer by MOCVD

For the development of next-generation III-V logic transistor, the epitaxial growth of III-V materials (GaAs, InGaAs, InP) as promising candidates on silicon substrates is performed by MOCVD for about 1 year.

- Electronic and magneto-transport properties of metal/semiconductor nanostructure devices

By nanodevice fabrication with as-grown nanostructures, research of electrical and magnetic transport properties was carried out. I have experienced high-class cleanroom usage for making nanodevices like EBL, sputter, evaporator, ICP etcher and chemical bench. Main works were the measurement of temperature dependent magnetoresistance using measuring tools connected with PPMS/cryogenic He3 refrigerator.

- Memristive properties (neuromorphic devices) of metal oxide nanowires

I have studied memristors for artificial neuromorphic devices since joining at TCD. ZnO nanowires for memristors are successfully synthesized and observed peculiar memristive behavior showing multilevel resistance switching.

- Activation phenomenon of nanowires network system under magnetic field

I explored the Ni/NiO nanowire-nanowire junctions through temperature-dependent resistance and magnetoresistance measurements. These experiments suggest that it may be possible to encode magnetic and electronic information simultaneously into a semiconducting filaments, potentially doubling the memory density of the device.

- Transition metal doped topological insulator in bulk system

Since joined Sogang university, my research topics are expended from nanostructures to bulk system. I have mainly conducted the research on how physical properties of topological insulators are evolved and changed when magnetic transition ions are insulted in topological insulators. Non-trivial topological surface state depending on gap opening affected by magnetic impurities is one of the most fascinative phenomenon in condensed materials physics.
