Church St. died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996, at Astoria Healthcare Center. -- Born May 17, 1919, in Vermont, Illinois, to Arthur and Maydee Perkins Wise, she married Wilmer C. Cripe on Feb. 28, 1937, in Browning. He survives. -- Also surviving are two sons: Johnnie L. of Springfield and Dean of Clear Lake, Iowa; one sister, Naomi Jamison of Middletown, Iowa; one brother, Forrest Wise of Paloma, Mo.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. One brother preceded her in death. -- She was a member of Bader Christian Church in Bader. She was a retail sales clerk. -- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at her church. The Rev. James Shirley will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. She died Aug 22, 1982. -- Surviving are two sons, Garth of Astoria and Brian of Watseka; three brothers, Wilmer and Hubert, both of Astoria, and Morris of Browning; and five grandchildren. -- A World War Ii Army veteran, he was a member of American Legain Post 25. -- He was a bulk distributor for Standard Oil Co. for 20 years and then owned Cripe Oil Co. He was city clerk of Astoria for 20 years and chief of the Astoria Fire Department. -- He was a member of Astoria United Methodist Church, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday.
