Shikoku Island 2010
Shikoku Island: Long long ago, a Buddhist monk named Kobo Daishi hiked Shikoku Island and achieved enlightenment at the end of it. Nowadays, people make the pilgrimage and visit the 88 main temples that Kobo Daishi had visited, getting a stamp and signature from each one. The journey will be about 800-900 miles, depending on how many side detours or extra temples are visited. Thousands of people travel the path every year, but most do it via bus/car in two weeks or so. About 1,000 people a year complete the journey by hiking.
From March 6, 2010- April 24, 2010, my sister and I hiked Shikoku Island.
