SHiFT makes use of research projects uncover the integrated and sustainable design practices and inform effects on design and planning instruments at policy, city, neighbourhood, unit levels as well as the sustainability of managed subsidized rental housing environments.

To ensure industry professionals incorporate Breaking New Ground principles into their work, we assist with the development of courses and academic exchange programmes as well as forums and seminars, all of which delegates can claim continued professional development after attendance.

Our design workshops, lectures and architectural site visits provide the opportunity for (social) housing practitioners to meet and learn. All these learning forums can be used to accumulate ‘continued professional development’ credits as required by the South African Council for Architectural Professionals.
