Humming bird sign: Progressive supranuclear Palsy


Progressive supranuclear palsy or the Steele-Richardson-Olszewski syndrome, is adegenerative disease involving the gradual deterioration and death of specific volumes of the brain, eg tectum.
Characteristics include supranuclear, initially vertical, gaze dysfunction accompanied by extrapyramidal symptoms and cognitive dysfunction. The disease usually develops after the sixth decade of life, and the diagnosis is purely clinical.
