From the Pastor

FROM THE PASTOR -

The song says, Christmas time is the most wonderful time of the year.  It certainly has the potential for that claim to be true.  It is the time when we are most intentional about looking to the wants and wishes of others.  It a time of family gatherings and memory making.  As those who know Jesus, it gives us a time to celebrate His coming and the changes He has made in our world and in our eternal destinies.  The story of Christmas is a story of love and reaching out to others who have needs.  It is a wonderful time.

It can also be said it is the busiest time of the year.  There are so many preparations to be made from the Thanksgiving to New Year!  Food, Travel, sleeping arrangements, and making sure there are enough plates, seats at the table, and gifts.  There are plenty of things to keep you busy.  ?Then you have all the shows from your childhood playing on TV that your wife wants to watch and all the sports that you are trying to squeeze in.  Don't forget Live Nativity and the lights at the park, and sometimes you need to go up to Paxton and see the lights that go on and off with the music (It is awesome by the way).
It is all enjoyable and helps "make the season bright", but it can wear you out.

So today I encourage you to relax.  What needs to be done will get done.  Take a moment to catch your breath and enjoy the moments you have had, rather than looking ahead to what is coming.  It is nice to have the four seasons here in Illinois.  It is nice to have the Christmas season every year and it will be great next year, but now relax.  It is cold outside, so throw in a frozen pizza and watch one of your favorite Christmas movies, (It is ok to watch them after Christmas as long as it is still cold).

Our less than joyful author of Ecclesiastes reminds us that there is a time for everything, for a moment take the time to relax.
