Acupuncturist, Registered Nurse

My first degree a BSc degree in Nursing awakened my vocation to treat and heal. I trained in Toronto, Canada and gained extensive clinical experience in both Canada and USA specialising in post surgery, mental health and cancer care areas. I worked in private clinics and University Teaching hospitals. In 1997, personal circumstances intervened and I left the Nursing profession. I migrated to the UK in 2001 and began a successful career working with the UK Telecoms Regulator, Ofcom but I missed working within a clinical setting and in 2008, I decided to return to clinical practice but not to Nursing. I wanted to be able to treat my patients as an integrated whole - physical, spiritual and mental - as opposed to only treating their physical symptoms or disease. During this period I was also undergoing treatment and my NHS consultant recommended Acupuncture as a supplemental and supportive therapy for me. This recommendation introduced me to Chinese Medicine's 2000 year old history and its therapeutic benefits.

Training

In 2010, after experiencing firsthand the positive effect Acupuncture had on my health and wellbeing I started studying for a BSc (Hons) in Chinese Medicine at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, United Kingdom. The college is a 15 year old institution known for their integrated approach to Chinese Medicine with special emphasis on 5 Element theory. It is one of the largest providers of acupuncture training in the UK and Europe. The degree is awarded by Kingston University. I have also undertaken specialist training in those areas I have a keen interest in - cancer support, pain management, fertility and obstetric support. This ensures I am up to date with the latest conventional treatment protocols such as chemotherapy, radiation, IVF.

Qualifications - LicAc, MBAcC, RN

I graduated with my License in Acupuncture in October 2013 and am currently treating in private clinics in Wimbledon and Putney, SW19.  I am also a member of the British Acupuncture Council.

I gained my Nursing degree in Toronto, Canada in 1994.

           Social Responsibility

Following the fire at Grenfell Tower, June 2017 I founded with a colleague Emergency Acupuncture. An organisation providing emergency acupuncture treatment in the heart of disaster areas for survivors and residents affected by trauma. Our clinics are continuing their work in Kensington and we have over 80 volunteer practitioners working with us. If you would like to support our cause please contact me.

I volunteer every Tuesday at the Fountain Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. An independent charity for cancer patients, their families and carers providing support from the initial diagnosis until treatment finishes and beyond.

I managed a Community Acupuncture project in SW19 from 2013 - 2016 offering Acupuncture at an affordable cost. This clinic has now been closed.
