Whilst researching factors that affect OpenGL  performance ( for rendering text in OpenGL) I've found several useful resources. To compile the Pixel transfer test type something like "cc pixel_transfer_test.c -lGL -lglut", then "./a.out" to run it.

The Pixel Transfer Test is based on this, with modifications to help it run on windows, and so that it writes the output to a file. Comments / improvements are welcome, as are sets of data for your machine (particularly if you use Blender), email sheepzilla (gmail).
