Shattuck Avenue Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council
(NCPC)
(NCPC)
The Shattuck Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) was formed in 1994 to help our community combat crime and improve our neighborhoods by working together with our neighbors, the City of Oakland, and local law enforcement. The NCPC meets once a month.
Voice your concerns about neighborhood issues.
Work with your neighbors to improve conditions for all.
Get action on noise, traffic issues, blight, and drug dealing.
Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month at the CHORI Library, 58th St. & MLK (park and enter through parking lot on 58th St. side of building). All residents are welcome.
At this time, these meetings continue to be held virtually. Contact the NCPC to request access to that meeting by sending an email to: oakland.ncpc.shattuck@gmail.com
Join the NCPC email list by sending an email to: oakland.ncpc.shattuck@gmail.com
Join the 56th Street email list (56th from Telegraph to MLK) by sending an email to: jholme94609@yahoo.com
Report a problem or request a City of Oakland service online using SeeClickFix (e.g., illegal dumping, blight, street light outages) or call 311.
For abandoned vehicles, the City of Oakland prefers you use these contacts (not SeeClickFix/311 or 911):
Call - Vehicle Abatement Detail at (510) 777-8538 and leave a voicemail message; or
Email - vehicleabatement@oaklandca.gov
If a vehicle is blocking your driveway and you can’t get out, call police non-emergency at (510) 777-3333. An officer will be dispatched to cite and/or tow the vehicle as appropriate.
If a car is parked in your parking stall on private property, talk to your apartment manager or property manager. Oakland Police will not tow in this case.
Emergency:
Call 911, or
Call (510) 777-3211 from a cell phone
Non-Emergency:
Call (510) 777-3333 (non-emergency, Oakland Police)
On-line incident reporting to Oakland Police
Public Safety - MACRO
MACRO (Mobile Assistance Community Responders of Oakland) is Oakland’s incident response service where trained civilians respond to calls for service that are believed to be non-violent and not of a serious criminal nature. Responses can include welfare checks on vulnerable community members and, whenever possible, connecting them to services. If you observe individuals who appear to be engaging in problematic behavior that, for example, may indicate a mental health or another medical challenge, or that is a community disturbance such as on-going loud noise, contact macro@oaklandca.gov. For MACRO, you may call the OPD non-emergency number, 510-777-3333.
The MACRO team does not address violent situations. Using MACRO for low-level non-violent and non-criminal incidents helps free up OPD officers for more serious matters. Continue to call 911 for serious police matters or any medical emergency.

We also maintain a database of persistent problem locations for alternative abatement efforts such as health and housing code enforcement.
