This constituency represents the true essence of "Garden- city" Bangalore with its famous gardens, temples and mostly urban, literate population. As a constituency, it has always broken the normal trend in the state by voting in a way opposite to the trend of the entire state. In fact, in 1984, riding on the Indira Gandhi wave, all the 27 out of 28 seats were won by the Congress but this seat went to the Janata Party candidate.
The current sitting MP from this constituency is Ananth Kumar from the BJP and he has been continuously winning since 1996. But due to delimitaion, the profile of the constituency has changed. This time around, caste and youth cards have taken prominence and all the parties have fielded candidates bearing these things in mind. The Congress has fielded the young Krishna Byregowda from Vokkaliga community keeping both the caste and youth votes in mind and also, there is Captain Gopinath of Air Deccan fame entering as an independent. Thus the stakes are high for a keenly fought contest.
Infrastructure - Metro Rail and many fly-over and underpasses
e-governance - more people friendly measures and accessibility online
Although, these are major issues, the main issues that I feel that concerns all of us as a nation are those of economic recession and the internal security of the nation. Please consider these issues too when you vote for the candidates.
