Fire and rescue needs of Sharon, Vermont are supported by the Sharon Firemen's Association, Inc., and its Volunteer Fire Department.  Currently, there are 24 active members.  Two are also members of South Royalton Rescue Squad and are EMT-B certified.   The department provides mutual aide for surrounding towns.

The firehouse is located at 5808 Route 14. It has a kitchen, meeting room, a fire chief's office, storage, and two bays.  The department owns four vehicles currently in service: Car 1, Engine 1, Engine 2, and Tanker 1.  The department also owns a 1925 Model T parade vehicle donated by Ernie Phelps.  The firehouse is an emergency shelter for the town.
The Sharon Fire Department participates in annual town gatherings.  It hosts an annual chicken barbecue at the Old Home Day celebration, and enjoys organizing fundraisers such as raffles, dances, casino nights, etc.  Members of the department are also active in town committees such as E911 management, fire wardens, and the South Royalton Rescue Advisory Board.
