Saeed Sharifi Tehrani received the B.Sc. degree in computer engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2002, the M.Sc. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada, in 2011. He is currently with Micron Technology Inc., San Diego, California.

From January to June 2010, he was a visiting scholar at the Center for Magnetic Recording Research (CMRR),  University of California, San Diego (UCSD), California. His professional interests include non-volite memories, coding for data storage systems, digital signal processing systems, low hardware-complexity and high throughput error-control coding techniques, and efficient design and hardware implementation of iterative decoders.

He was a recipient of several federal and provincial fellowships during his graduate studies in Canada. He received  the Post Graduate Scholarship from the Alberta Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE) during his M.Sc. study at the University of Alberta. During his Ph.D. study at McGill University, he was a recipient of the Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS Doctoral)  and the Michael Smith Foreign Study Scholarship from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). He is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
