CELEBRATION OF SHANNON'S 100TH BIRTHDAY

The Sydney Quantum Information Community is organising a one-day workshop at University of Technology Sydney (UTS) on April 29, 2016 to celebrate Shannon's 100'th birthday. Shannon, the American mathematician and computer scientist, conceived and laid the foundations for information theory. His theories established the groundwork for the electronic communications networks that lace the earth, and now extended to a broader theory of quantum information. This workshop is one of the global events listed in the "Shannon Centenary" webpage maintained by the IEEE Information Theory society.

This workshop will bring together the classical and quantum information communities in Sydney area.  Light refreshment will be provided in both the morning and afternoon. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support from UTS Research and Innovation Office under "A/Prof Min-Hsiu Hsieh- DP16 Near-Miss Funding".
