Pubs Many of our guests tell us that the following local pubs are good for food and a friendly atmosphere:
The Church Inn, Chelmorton map  This is our local - and is a very pleasant thirty minute walk away on a summers day. Good quality traditional British Pub lunches and evening meals. Real Ales served, and recommended by CAMRA. The Pack Horse, Crowdicote map In the beautiful Dove Valley. Good food and real ales from
the nearby Storm Brewery in Macclesfield.
The Bull’s Head, Monyash map In the centre of the village, opposite the green. Real ales.
Lunches, dinners and a legendary Sunday roast. The Cock & Pullet, Sheldon map In the centre of Sheldon, a fascinating village built around the
18th Century lead mining industry. A free house with real ales. The Royal Oak, Hurdlow map A good stop off during a walk.
Food and real ales served. The Red Lion, Litton map On the picturesque village square in the attractive village of Litton.
Good home cooked food in an unspoilt traditional pub which still retains the character of the three farm cottages from which it was converted in 1787. The Ashford Arms, Ashford-in-the-Water map Situated almost in the centre of the lovely village which backs onto the river Wye.
Very good food & a large garden area to relax in. The Charles Cotton, Hartington Great food & atmosphere, situated in another picturesque Dales village.
Restaurants There are lots of good restaurants in Buxton, all within a ten-minute drive of Shallow Grange.  Many of the bigger chains are present, such as Pizza Express.
