HOW TO SUCCEED

A PRODUCT SO GOOD PEOPLE TELL FRIENDS

EASY TO UNDERSTAND

EXPONENTIAL GROWTH IN MARKET

REAL TRENDS VS. FAKE TRENDS
(iphone where people spend hours on their phone vs AR that people just don't use it)

EVANGELICAL FOUNDER
(evangelize marketting sale, recruiting of company)

AMBITIOUS VISION

HARD STARTUP VS. EASY STARTUP
(its better to start hard startups that are hard to do but they would be BIG if they win)

CONFIDENT AND DEFINITE VIEW OF FUTURE

(CONFIDENT AND FLEXIBLE!)

HUGE IF IT WORKS

TEAM

OPTIMISTS!
(you don't want pessimists in your team, if you get rough days)

IDEA GENERATORS

“WE’LL FIGURE IT OUT”

“I’VE GOT IT”

ACTION BIAS

THE BLESSING OF INEXPERIENCE
(nobody told them its hard but they did it since they didnt know it)

MOMENTUM

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
(over long term to keep monopoly)

SENSIBLE BUSINESS MODEL

DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY

FRUGALITY, FOCUS, OBSESSION, LOVE

WHY STARTUPS WIN

ONE NO VS. ONE YES
In a big compnay for an idea to take place it requires a yes from many decision making layers and just one NO can kill it. in a startup you only need one yes)

FAST- CHANGING MARKETS

PLATFORM SHIFTS

Michael Siebel
What problem are you solving? instead of telling me what the product does
people dont know WHY?
They dont know the problem that they expect to be solved at the end of what they are doing

--Can you specify the problem clearly in two sentences--
have you experienced it yourself?
You can't solve the problem for everyone who has it.
   WHO CAN WE ADDRESS FIRST?
State the problem more narrowly. Which use cases first?
Is the problem solvable. Is it even possible? logstics available?

Who is your customer?
instead of building a car shopping website with buyer in mind which even if they love your product they are going to come back in 7 years(!)
build it for car sales people who HAVE TO hit their numbers every month!
for $200 let car sales people have a standarized car transcript like carmax or GIA for diamonds that customers can trust.
