July 9, 2019 Shady Lane Sportsmens Club Meeting Minutes

Old Business:


Pheasants should all be released by now. It wasn't a good year, many were lost due to gnats, rain and other unfavorable conditions.


New Business:


Thanks to all who volunteered at the tractor pull. Attendance was down from last year but it was still a pretty successful year. 177 gun raffle tickets were sold.


The crushed concrete will be here as soon as Bob Mathews gets the air conditioning fixed in his truck.


Bingo was discussed again. Ron, Cheri and Dawn will look into what we need to hold it at the clubhouse.


The 100 yard range is in need of repair as it is all shot up.


The 2020 fishing contest was nixed due to lack of interest, it was decided that we should try bingo instead.

June 11, 2019 Shady Lane Sportsmens Club Meeting Minutes

Old Business:


Having bingo as a fund raiser was discussed and tabled until Ron and Cheri are here.


Pat has gun raffle tickets (1800 tickets at $10 each), contact him (320-864-3491) to get yours to sell.


Nobody volunteered for the 2020 fishing contest committee, we will try again at the net meeting.


Larry doesn't want to do the steak frys anymore so we will try to get others to commit.


New Business:


Tractor Pull is June 28th and 29th, we need volunteers, bring your friends and family. We will be loading equipment on Wednesday, June 26th at 6:30pm at the New Auburn creamery. We will be setting up on Thursday, June 27th at 6:30pm at the Hutchinson Fairgrounds. Friday, June 28th volunteers needed from 4-10pm. Saturday, June 29th volunteers needed from 4-10pm and clean-up from 10pm-12am. There are still many spots to fill. Let them know at the gate that you are with Shady Lane and you will get in free.


Panthers Booster Club is asking for a donation, request denied.


Glencoe Legion Post 95 is seeking donations for two bands for Glencoe Days. A motion was made and seconded to donate $100 to Glencoe Legion Post 95.


The parking lot needs some gravel on the northeast end, we will wait until some crushed concrete becomes available. Scootie will put in an order for 4 loads.


There is a dead tree hanging over the small shed, Pam will take care of it.

Pheasants have arrived and some have been loosing a lot.


Tractor Pull is June 28th and 29th, we need volunteers, bring your friends and family. Dawn and Scott's grandson's baseball team may be willing to help. Kramers will volunteer for one night.

Old Business:


Hochie went to Sno Pros to request a $500 donation.


The gun raffle permit has arrived, 1800 tickets will be printed.


Pheasants will be here April 29thcall Larry 320-864-5223 or Ron 320-864-6866 if you are interested in raising some.


Tractor Pull is June 28th and 29th, the GSL trap team will not be helping but Dean Scheele of First Lutheran School is interested in having his group help sell gun raffle tickets. Doug will call him with details. 4H will be selling the 50/50 tickets.


New Business:


High Island Bottom Feeders Ducks Unlimited of Arlington's prime rib banquet that was scheduled for Thursday, April 11 at the Arlington Dug-out has been changed to Sunday, April 14th at 3pm due to weather.


Chad Wendinger will supply us with an estimate to do a 12x25' addition minus the cement work. Doug will get an estimate from Ken Bauer for the cement work.


We will discuss a clean-up day at the next meeting.


Due to lack of participants, next year we will schedule 8-10 volunteers for each steak fry.


Welcome new member Christina Laney.

Old Business:


Hochie attended the CPA banquet and was impressed, he thinks we should continue to support it.


We will not do anymore corn give-away breakfasts as we are out of corn and the weather is turning.


The building committee went to look at the buildings that are to be given away at Christ Lutheran Church and determined that they would not be feasible for us.


Tractor Pull is June 28th and 29th, the GSL trap team still has not gotten back to us yet so think of other clubs that may be interested in helping.


New Business:


Jeremy Otto from High Island Bottom Feeders Ducks Unlimited of Arlington was here to explain some of the projects that they use their donations for. Their prime rib banquet is Thursday, April 11 at the Arlington Dug-out. A motion was made to do the $150 donation which includes two banquet tickets. Drawing for the tickets was won by Scott Dietz.


Pheasants will be arriving April 28th, call Larry 320-864-5223 or Ron 320-864-6866 if you are interested in raising some.


Food plots – we should look into this for next year.


Next steak fry is Saturday, March 30th, we will start serving at 4pm. Call Larry (320-864-5223) by Friday, March 22nd to reserve your meat.

Old Business:


Steak fry went well, thanks Larry!


Corn give-away went well also. We still have corn left.


New Business:


The next corn give away will be the February 23rd from 7 to 10 am.


Next steak fry is Friday, March 1st, Larry will set-up, Ron and crew will take over. Call Larry (320-864-5223) by Friday, February 22nd to reserve your meat.


Tractor Pull is June 28th and 29th, Cheri talked to the GSL trap team to see if they are interested in helping us. They have not gotten back to her yet.


CPA banquet is Saturday, March 2nd. A motion was made to do the $130 donation plus $20 for a guest ticket. The motion was seconded and approved. Hochie won the drawing for the banquet tickets.


Card nights have all been flops, Jon will take the rest of them off the calendar on the website.


Christ Lutheran Church has two buildings to give away. A committee of Bob, Ron and Tom was formed to gather more information to see if these would be feasible for us.


Gun raffle is set for December 7th, Chad has the guns picked out.


It was suggested that we look into raising or releasing adult Hungarian Partridges to get them re-established in this area, think about this for a later meeting.


Hochie will be sending flowers to a special lady for Valentines Day!

January 8, 2019 Shady Lane Sportsmens Club Meeting Minutes

Welcome two new members from next door, Ken Smith and Stephanie Stewart.


Old Business:


Thanks to Bill M. for the straw bales for the septic and to Pat and Ron for hooking up the antenna, the TV works now.


New Business:


The corn give away will be the 12th from 7 to 11 am, Bob will bring shell corn. Doug will get the food, be here at 6am to volunteer.


We need to call Mathews to get some sand spread as the parking lot is slippery, Doug will call him.


The High Island Conservation Club donated $500 to our corn give away fund.


The New Membership Proposal was read for the 3rd time (see the attached). A motion was made to accept as is, the motion was seconded and approved. As of today all membership dues are due on or before the December meeting and no later than the January meeting. Dues can be sent to Shady Lane, PO Box 41, Glencoe, MN 55336.


Next steak fry is February 1st, prices are as follows: T-bone $16, sirloin $11, smoked or regular pork chop $10, chicken $11. Call Larry (320-864-5223) by January 25th to reserve your meat.


Tractor Pull is June 28th and 29th, Cheri will ask the GSL trap team if they are interested in helping us. Minimum of 10 people per night and 25 cents per unit sold.


Russ quoted a 120,000 BTU furnace installed for $1925. It was decided to run the old one until it dies then get a new one. Russ will clean the furnace when he comes to check the grill.


Card night will be January 18th at 6pm.


The next gun raffle is set for December 7th, Chad will line up the guns.


The next gun raffle for attending meetings - the winner will receive the cash or store credit in that amount to go towards a gun of their choice.


Pheasants – we will do it in spring again, contact Larry to order.

Lori Dummer from the Glencoe Silver Lake trap team asked to use the
 

clubhouse for their pork chop dinner fundraiser on February 17th

The dinner will be $15 and they will have door prizes.
 

They would also like to set-up their simulator sometime in March.
 

A motion was made that they can use the clubhouse on the two dates

and we will donated $250 to them. The motion was seconded and approved.



Old Business:


Gun raffle: less than 300 raffle tickets were unsold, all of the 100 chops sold and the 15 meat/booze raffles went well.


New Business:


There were no nominations for the three positions up for re-election, the ballot was closed and voted on. Secretary (Pam), treasurer (Cheri) and board member (Scootie) were unanimously re-elected.


The new membership proposal was read for the second time. (see the attachment)


Duck donated 3 old clay pigeon throwers and has a large print that is not framed to donate as well. The throwers will be stored in the shed.


Bill M. will bring some straw bales to put on the blankets to cover the septic.


Next card night will be Dec. 21st at 5:30, Ron will get 50 burgers.


Steak fry will be on Friday February 1st at 5pm, call Larry 320-864-5223 for reservations. January steak fry is up for grabs, Larry will get the people if someone else wants to run it.


A new alarm system will be going in, it's an upgrade from our current system and isn't going to cost us anything.


Our furnace died the day before the gun raffle, had a guy fix it, igniter was out. Last year we replaced the motor so we should look into getting a new one. Doug Stuewe quoted $2600-$2800, Russ will also get us a quote.


TV antenna – Bob will get a quote from Mitch Stuewe and Pat has one that he will try out here.


Neil Eggersgluess won the member raffle Henry Golden Boy.

November 13, 2018 Shady Lane Sportsmens Club Meeting Minutes

Old Business:


Gun raffle: we still have 44 books of tickets that are not spoken for, if you need more to sell contact Pat (320-864-3491). The raffle is Dec. 8th so there's not much time. We will be having a smoked pork chop meal for $10 that evening and also meat/liquor raffles starting at 5:30pm. Volunteers for the evening are Hochie, John B., Tom R., Ron G., Russ P., Pam H., and Chad S.


We need to cover the septic tanks with blankets so they don't freeze as we did not get any dirt to put on them.


Next month is election time; secretary (Pam), treasurer (Cheri) and one board member (Scootie) are up for re-election.


New Business:


Card night: Hochie will open the door at 5:30pm.


Steak fry: Larry may possibly have them in January, February and March with exact dates to be determined.


Fishing contest: we will form a committee to do the contest in 2020.


The Membership Committee proposed the following (see “Duties/Payback” attachment below) with the additions of 1. all current lifetime members are grandfathered in, 2. member needs to attend a minimum of 4 meeting per year and 3. after 5 years in good standing they qualify for a board review to become a lifetime member. A motion was made to accept the above, the motion was seconded and approved. The new membership policy will be read at the December and January meetings and will be voted on in January to take affect in January 2019.


A suggestion to have a gun sighting in day for hunters was made, it will be tabled until the next meeting.

Old Business:


The VFW wants $7000 for the grill trailer we used for the tractor pull so we will not be buying it. Doug can get some fryers from Glencoe Co-op so we should be covered.


New Business:


Membership committee will finalize their proposal after the meeting to present at the next meeting.


Gun raffle: there are 44 books of tickets that are not out. If you want some to sell contact Pat (320-864-3491).


Tentative dates for our corn give-aways are January 12th and 26th.


Our roof is leaking again and needs to be looked at.


November 7th and 8th the Glencoe Police Department would like to shoot out here. They will need to contact the neighbors to make sure they won't be farming.


Correction from last month's meeting minutes: Card night not steak frys will be the 3rd Friday of each month at 6pm starting in November until April.
