We were delighted to have featured the SGRA Manila Seminar 15 held last Feb. 8, 2013 at the U.P. School of Labor and Industrial Relations, on the theme
"Manufacturing as if People and Mother Nature Mattered"
SGRA is short for Sekiguchi Global Research Association (pronounced as SEGRA). It is a Civil Society Organization (CSO) based in Sekiguchi, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan and has a mission to reach out globally. It is under the Atsumi International Foundation (AIF), which was formed on the behest of the the late Takeo Atsumi (former President of Kajima Construction) as the Atsumi International Scholarship Foundation (AISF). SGRA's mission is to contribute to good global citizenship under the principle of harmony in diversity.

Mr. Francis Osorio, who made a presentation at the Conference in U.P. last February 8th about BAMBOO as a sustainable building material, ably described the huge demand for bamboo as a basic material in the Philippines as well as his need for more workers to process bamboo for supply to the growing local market. He wishes to promote a "series of 'backyard-type' family-based WORKSHOPS in which the bamboo can be processed into the various types/shapes being demanded. He provides the training needed for those interested :-)

ABOUT GOLDEN EGGS (GK Enchanted Farm, Bulacan)
Golden Eggs is a social enterprise that produces products from duck eggs and meat. Its yellow color might be the first thing to catch your attention, but the taste of these salted duck eggs will definitely be the one to stick. Made from the love and care of GK families at The Enchanted Farm in Angat, The Golden Egg, a social enterprise, sports Gawad Kalinga's signature yellow to symbolize change and hope for a better and brighter Philippines.
General Information
The Golden Eggs venture started in 2011 to propose a healthy product made in the Philippines for a large scale of consumers and produced by the poorest of the poor. Deep involved in social justice, The Golden Eggs venture started among Gawad Kalinga communities by providing employment and economic support.
This social business was created by Alvaro Benitez when he was still a university student: “ I want to produce a healthy, affordable good, whose beneficiaries will be both consumers and producers. The set of values that we advocate respect the moral and social rights while creating wealth in the Philippines".
The Golden Eggs story revolves around three major values: a safe and healthy product which supports the local economy by employing the least in Filipino society. Today, the Golden Eggs are produced in the GK Enchanted Farm in Bulacan. Buoyed by a growing market, Golden Eggs aims to extend to the future Enchanted Farms all across the Philippines.
