SGO Guidelines

General Expectations:   SGO's MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 10/13/17

Definition of a Student Growth Objective:  A long-term academic goal that teachers set for groups of students and must be:

  •  Specific and measurable
  •  Aligned to New Jersey’s curriculum standards
  •  Based on available prior student learning data
  •  A measure of what a student has learned between two points in time
  •  Ambitious and achievable
  • Follow Guidelines established in SGO Integration Toolkit (attached below)
  • Utilize SGO Rubric when developing goals (attached below)

Suggestions for Current School Year

  • Use multiple measures to measure student growth
  • Incorporate existing assessments (no extra tests)
  • Develop template to track student progress (see excel spreadsheet attached at bottom of page)
  • SAMPLES FOR ELA, MATH, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, AND SPECIAL AREAS ARE INCLUDED IN THE LINKS BELOW
