NEWHOUSE: Parish Newsletter

NEWHOUSE is St Francis Xavier's newsletter publication, which each weekend brings the community up to date with what is going on in and around the parish, and further afield in the deanery and archdiocese. It includes reflections on the Scriptural texts of the day, as well as the readings for the following Sunday. Parish information, diary, rosters, those in special need of prayer for healing, recent deaths & anniversaries, Sunday's baptisms, and noteworthy events and dates are also given each week.

NEWHOUSE is printed on Thursday (deadline for submissions Wednesday evening) on paper of a colour appropriate to the liturgical season. It is available soon after on this website for download as a PDF file - see attachments at foot of this page. The current issue and most recent three back issues are usually available online.

If you would like a loved one included in our newsletter for prayers, please email newhouse@sfxmonty.org prior to the Thursday leading up to the weekend.

Why is it called NEWHOUSE?
St Francis [of] Xavier was a Basque from Navarre (now Northern Spain).  Francis was born in the family castle at Xavier, a name derived from the Basque etxe berri, which means NEWHOUSE. We speak of the church as ‘God’s House’; and we too are The Church - God living in us - which is refreshed anew whenever we come together to celebrate Eucharist.
