Welcome to Religion Courses  for Grades 6 through 8 and Art Classes for Grades 5 through 8.

On this Welcome page, information will be provided for the Academic Decathlon and Mock Trial programs as well.  Please scroll to the bottom of this page for information regarding the extra-curricular activities.

2015-2016 Supplies, all Grades:

Religion:  Single or Double Subject Spiral Notebook;   Black or Blue Pen

Art:  8 1/2 x 11 or 9 x 12 Hardbound Sketchbook, bound on the left side.  Available at Bookstar, Barnes & Noble, Carter Sexton, Aaron Bros.  The yellow sketchbooks glued on the top or spiral books fall apart so please avoid those.  Students in Grades 6 through 8 may continue to use their sketchbooks from the prior year.
 
This website will provide students and parents with useful information.  Parents may learn more about curriculum, classes, and projects.  Students may be provided with resources and information for assignments and projects.
 
Alerts, special notices, and general information,  etc. for all classes will be posted on this page.  For each Grade, homework, special projects, dates, etc. will be posted in the appropriate section in the bar on the upper left.

MOCK TRIAL PROGRAM:   Students in 7th and 8th Grades are eligible to participate.   Mrs. Colucci acts as Administrator and Faculty Moderator of the team.

                                      Practices will be held in accordance with the scheduling by Mary O'Neill and Joe Montoya, the team coaches, commencing in September, 2015, starting at 5:00 p.m., in the 7th Grade classroom.   Further information will be provided.

                                      Interested students will be notified of the try-out dates and requirements.
  

                                      The team members participate in two competition rounds in November.  ALL team members are REQUIRED to attend both competition dates, without exception.  In the event the team advances to the final rounds, additional information will be provided.     

 

ACADEMIC DECATHLON:  Mrs. Colucci acts as team coach and moderator.    Students from 6th, 7th, and 8th Grades who are eligible are invited to participate based on grades, standardized test scores, teacher recommendations, behavior and work habits, and interest in participating.  The team commences practice sessions during the Summer and continues through the Spring.  The team attends two competitions, one in March at the L.A. Sports Arena and another in April at  Louisville High School.

                              
                                      Students compete individually and as a team in the subjects of Religion, Math, Science, Literature, English/Grammar, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Current Events, Spelling, Speech, and Logic.

                              

                                  The first practice session for the school year will be on Wednesday,  September 2, 2015 from 12:00 - 3:00 in the 7th Grade classroom.  Students attend practice sessions every  Wednesday. A schedule of practice dates and snacks has been given to team members.  A Winter/Spring schedule will be given out in January, 2016.  

                                   The team will be competing at Long Beach State University on March 13, 2016.
